Nate Burleson – From O’Dea High School To The NFL and Good Morning America

Nate Burleson is a former NFL wide receiver turned TV analyst who has made a name for himself both on and off the field. Born on August 19, 1981, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Burleson grew up in Seattle, Washington, where he attended O’Dea High School.
At O’Dea, Burleson was a standout athlete and excelled in both football and basketball. He was named the METRO 3A MVP in football and led his team to the state championship game. In basketball, he was an all-conference player and helped his team reach the state tournament.
After graduating from high school, Burleson attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he played football for the Wolf Pack. He was a two-time All-WAC selection and finished his college career with 3,293 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns.
Burleson was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons in Minnesota, where he established himself as a reliable receiver and return specialist. In 2006, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent and played for his hometown team for four seasons. During his time in Seattle, Burleson had some of the best seasons of his career, including a 1,006-yard receiving season in 2007.
After leaving Seattle, Burleson signed with the Detroit Lions, where he played for three seasons. Injuries limited his production during his time in Detroit, but he still managed to contribute when healthy. He retired from the NFL in 2014 with 457 receptions, 5,630 receiving yards, and 39 touchdowns.
Following his playing career, Burleson transitioned to a career in broadcasting. He started as an analyst for the NFL Network and also worked as a co-host on CBS’ morning show “The NFL Today”. In 2021, he joined “Good Morning Football”, a daily morning show on the NFL Network, as a co-host.
Burleson’s charisma and knowledge of the game have made him a popular figure in the media. He has also been recognized for his philanthropic work, including his involvement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and his own charity, The Nate Burleson Foundation, which supports education and health initiatives for underprivileged youth.
